I am Carisa Dodson of CRD Photography. Here you will find some random smatterings of the work that I do. I am a family and children photographer and love, love, LOVE that I get to call this my work. The birth of a baby is so miraculous to me, and the mind of a 2 year old is nuts. I love to see kids grow, and love to see families interact. I love to see and feel joy.
It makes my heart happy.
So, thanks for stopping by! Take a look around, and let me know if you have any questions.

(the bio photos of me and my family were taken by the talented Gary and Courtney Christenson of Gary and Courtney Photography (www.garyandcourtney.com). Check them out!
This last weekend we headed up to Estes Park to meet up with the Caffee family! This year is a GREAT time to be up in Estes as the Aspens are changing and the Elk are out and about. The Caffee’s are actually from Denver, but were up there on vacation, so they asked me to come take pictures of their beautiful family!
This family was SO much fun! (As you can tell by some of their photos). All of them had a great time, and even though the weather was just “so-so”, they made the best of it and I think we got some great photos to really capture them as a family.
Thanks again Caffee family! I had a great time with you all!!!
This last weekend I took a trip back to my hometown of Hutchinson Kansas. Yes, I am from the midwest, the heartland. I love love love living in Colorado, but there will always be a special place in my heart for “home”. My hometown is also home of the Kansas State Fair, which comes yearly. And in my family it has become a yearly tradition for all of us to go home and spend some time together….eating as much overly fried, fried food, as we possibly can. And we did. And it was wonderful. And I felt sick afterwards. (Come to think of it, I still do!).
While I was home, I also got to take some photos of this little one, Miss M. M’s mom is one of our long time family friends, so I was so glad when she asked me to take some photos of her. We were originally going to do them at the fair, but after going there on a Saturday night, I’m sure glad we didn’t as it would have been NUTS trying to take pictures of a 2 year old at the fair. So, instead we decided to do them at one of the local parks. Much easier, and no risk of losing her! And here she is. Miss Maddy. What a CUTIE!
Thanks again Angie and Jason for asking me to take some photos of your little ones! I had so much fun!
Can I just say that I LOVE babies. My own baby turned one today, so she’s not really a baby anymore (more like a screaming toddler…), which makes me somewhat sad. However, I have quite a few friends who have recently had babies or who are getting ready to. So, I will get my baby fix .
Onto why I’m really blogging! One of those good friends that I was talking about, had her baby in June and she called me up and asked if I would do some newborn photos before Olivia got any bigger. And I said “of course”. .
This is Olivia.
She is a REALLY pretty baby.
She is a really good baby.
She is only 5 weeks old, and can already almost hold hear head up and smile.
This is Olivia’s parents.
What an adorable little family. I just love them.
And they are already great parents. You can tell simply by how much they love their little “Livey”.
Thanks Bryan and Steph for asking me to photograph miss Olivia. I am honored and had such a great time with you all! Can’t wait to finish up our shoot in Boulder in a couple of weeks!

(**side note, we were going to do more of the 3 of them in Boulder, but there ended up being a pretty gnarly storm that came through with a “flash-flood” advisory. So, we decided it might not be the best idea to take an infant into a flood zone…So, check back in a couple of weeks for some more photos of the 3 of them! I can’t wait!!!).
I have known Julee since I was a little girl, being that she is one of my best friends moms. So, when Julee and Dan announced last fall that they were getting married, Morgan asked if I could make a gift certificate that she could give her mom at Christmas to shoot some photos for them. And I was honored to do so.
Julee and Dan got married just a few weeks ago in Florida, and instead of having “engagement” photos, they wanted some newly married photos that they could display in their home. So, that’s what we did. I wanted not only a couple of posed ones of the two of them, but of them just interacting, having fun together.
We captured that for sure.
They are so happy, so in love, and they just have fun together. You can tell throughout these photos.
Thanks Julee and Dan for letting me be apart of your new life together! I’m so happy for the both of you!
(And thanks Morgan and Madison for doing this for your mom, I know she is so happy that you did!).
And as you can see she is stunningly B-E-A-Utiful! I had the pleasure of shooting Janissa and Matt when they got married in 2009. (You can see this Here). Well, now they are expecting a little boy and they called me up to shoot some maternity photos for them. (And eventually take newborn photos!). We had a great time shooting these, and Janissa was a GREAT sport since it was pretty hot out! But, as you can see the heat didn’t stop us from getting some stellar shots.
Thanks Matt and Janissa for letting me be apart of your story! I can’t wait for you both to join the wonderful world of parenthood!
Meet Miss Claire Wood. I had the honor to photograph some head-shots for this pretty girl this last week. I am good friends with her sister and over heard them talking about how they had gone into Boulder and were trying to shoot some head-shots on their little camera….in the heat of the sunlight.
So, I decided to intervene and offered to shoot some for her. . Here is what we came up with!
Claire, you are such a beautiful girl and I know you’ll go far. And when you do… I’ll be able to say “I knew you when”. So don’t forget about us little people! Best of luck to you and your try out!
July 2, 2011 - 8:57 pmLaurie - Love these!!!
Thank you so much for intervening - you may have altered Claire's future! :) You are a great friend and such a talented photographer!
You may have thought that I have completely forgotten about this blog. Well, I haven’t, I promise. And…I’m BACK. I took a year off due to me being pregnant. Well, after much debate and praying I finally decided to quit my full time job and focus on my photography. And I cannot tell you how great it already has been. My last day was a little over a week ago and I just feel completely blessed that now I get to do what I love.
Well, now onto what this post is actually about! After my last day of work, I headed to Hutch to spend a week with my parents for Thanksgiving. While I was in town I had the honor of getting together with the Millers for some family portraits. I knew Jill and Kevin back in high school. They were high school sweethearts, and might have been one of the best looking couples around. So, of course they were going to have some of the best looking kids around! They now have 4 kids…that’s right 4!!! But, they are all SO well behaved and SO cute! Here are some photos from the day.
See what I mean?! B-E-A-UTIFUL!
And now you also see what I mean about the kids being WAY cute!
A few weeks ago I had to honor to photograph the wedding of Matt and Janissa. Janissa contacted me last spring, so it seemed crazy after all that planning, that it was already October…and now November. What an awesome couple to work with. They are so much in love, and a B-E-A-Utiful couple (see pictures below for their awesomeness). The wedding was up at the Flagstaff Amphitheater which overlooked Boulder/Denver. The view was EPIC! The ceremony was very personal and intimate, and so incredibly perfect for them. The reception took place at ChautauquaPark, in one of the old buildings with tons of character. The reception was relaxed and LOADS of fun. All of their freinds and family shook their booties till their booties wouldn’t shake anymore. That is until it started snowing! Needless to say, it was a perfect day, for a perfect wedding, for a perfect couple. What a way to end a perfect night, than with a perfect snow! Thanks Matt and Janissa for letting me be apart of your big day. Here are some of my favorite shots from the night! Enjoy!
November 10, 2009 - 10:43 pmstacey nicole - wowzo rissa!!! These are great! your work is improving, i see it! :) good work. btw.. i just found your new blog... :) nice lil treat.

Well, Reese is officially 6 months old (Actually as of today she is 7 months old!)! I can not BELIEVE how time flies! I feel like it was just yesterday that I was getting the phone call that Morgan and Chad were at the hospital and Reese was on her way! Well, this little one is just cute as a button, and keeps getter more so everyday. She has such a little personality, and I just love her with all my heart. We had quite a bit of fun with these photos as this, of course, was Reese’s first time to the pumpkin patch. I’m not sure why, but ever since she was born I have called her my little pumpkin…and now she really is my little pumpkin. Take a look!
I did a family shoot a couple of weeks ago and was able to make a slide show of the images from that day. This family is originally from Texas and was such a joy to work with! Their boys were so fun, and SO SO SO cute! We started off at their home in Thornton, and walked to a pond where we got some really stellar shots. I hope you all enjoy the slideshow!
